One of the most picturesque months of the year is unquestionably September. You may notice the days getting shorter, the weather getting cooler, and the leaves changing depending on where you live. But that doesn't mean outdoor fun in the sun is over just because summer is fading faster in our rearview mirror!

Throughout the month of September, you, your friends, and your family can engage in a variety of enjoyable activities. Here are some suggestions to get you going.

Beach Trip

Any time of year is a great time to visit a beach, but you must admit that going on a hot day is the best. This September, most of our hot days have passed, but there will still be some warm afternoons you can spend at the beach.

One activity that you can do that will also benefit the community and the environment is picking up trash along the shoreline. Unfortunately, human waste frequently finds its way into the ocean, but when it is dumped on beaches, we have a chance to clean it up.

Camp Out

There is still plenty of camping to be done despite the shorter days and cooler nights. Camping in September is just as enjoyable as camping in the summer. Still, it requires a little more preparation, such as ensuring you have the proper clothing and equipment. Additionally, if you camp in September, you can watch the leaves change at your preferred camping spots!

Fall Hike

Leaves may not have started to change where you are now. But, if you climb a little higher in elevation, you might begin to notice the vibrant yellows, reds, oranges, and purples that make fall so beautiful. Find a new trail to hike on that you have never done before, pack some water, and go for a fall hike!

Bike Ride

Consider taking a bike ride around your neighborhood if you're looking for a low-carbon, environment-friendly fall activity that doesn't involve driving or traveling long distance. Bike riding is great for your general health, gives you a chance to interact with your neighbors, and allows you to observe the changing of the leaves around your community. An afternoon in September can be spent biking, which is an easy and enjoyable activity.

Pumpkin Patch

Few places are more enjoyable for a family outing in September than your neighborhood pumpkin patch. Hayrides, petting zoos, corn mazes, and pumpkins, of course! Your financial support of a pumpkin patch benefits nearby farmers, promotes the consumption of more locally grown food, and boosts the local economy.

Now that you know some of the amazing outdoor activities you can do this September, here are a few places you can visit:

Campground at Kittatinny, Barryville, New York

350 secluded campsites are available at the Kittatinny Campground, tucked away in the Catskill Mountains. Pitch a tent along the Delaware River or camp in the dense forest. To access the zip lines and paintball at Kittatinny's Adventure Center, simply cross the river on your own.

Haystack Mountain Trail, Wilmington, Vermont

The Green Mountain State has abundant hiking and trekking opportunities. At 272 miles, the Long Trail tends to get all the attention. Adventurous souls will undoubtedly enjoy the friendly Haystack Mountain's five-mile out-and-back trail.

The mud season in Vermont, which begins right after the ski resorts put away their poles for the season, gradually gives way to lush summer vegetation and an abundance of wildflowers. Still, locals agree that fall is the best time to visit.

At this time of year, visitors who make the ascent to Haystack's summit are rewarded with bursts of burnished reds, oranges, and yellows.

Clearwater Beach, Florida

On Florida's west coast, Clearwater Beach is frequently voted one of the country's best beaches and is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. The beach area is delightful, and there are lots of great bars and eateries to visit after a day at the water.

Lucky Ladd Farms, Eagleville, Tennessee

Lucky Ladd Farms, one of the top five pumpkin patches in the South, is located about 45 minutes outside Nashville. Be ready to be astounded by the variety of sizes and hues at their yearly Pumpkin Festival.

Take a bite from delectable autumnal treats like pumpkin-spiced donuts, kettle corn, and gourmet caramel apples in between picking sessions. Plus, you can also give the kids a chance to explore the sizable playgrounds and petting zoos, as well as participate in the fun by taking a wagon ride pulled by a tractor.

La Jolla Cove, Big Sur, California

This tiny but gorgeous beach, part of the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, is perfect for a quick pit stop on a boat trip around California. Additionally, if you love seals, it's one of the best beaches in the USA to visit.

Despite all this, the beach is small and can become crowded. So, if that doesn't suit your style, you can consider visiting other beautiful places as well.

Treebones Resort, California

The human bird nest at Treebones Resort in Big Sur is what puts them on this list. They also have gorgeous camping options, such as yurts and a luxurious, solar-powered tent. A 180-degree view of the coast is revealed once you climb the personal ladder to the human-sized nest made of eucalyptus branches. Although the nest has a full-size futon mattress, you'll still need to pack things like pillows, sleeping bags, and a flashlight.

Tom's Thumb Trail, Scottsdale, Arizona

The first of many trailheads on the north side of the McDowell Mountains, Tom's Thumb is well-known for its striking rock formations. Given the breathtaking views, it makes sense that the four-mile hike is popular. The steep inclines and seemingly endless switchbacks will undoubtedly enhance visitor satisfaction. A massage at one of Scottsdale's top resorts should be included in any post-hike activity, as this is Scottsdale, a leading spa destination.

Conclusion

No matter what time of year you choose to visit, our country certainly has tons of outdoor activities to offer. So get ready; you definitely will have a lot of fun!
