Candy Cane Lane (2023)

If you're a fan of festive holiday movies, then Candy Cane Lane is definitely one to add to your must-watch list this season! This hilariously heartwarming Christmas film stars the legendary Eddie Murphy as Chris, a man determined to win his neighborhood's annual Christmas home decoration contest. But things take an unexpected turn when a mischievous elf named Pepper, played by the incredibly talented Jillian Bell, gets involved.

Pepper casts a magical spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, causing delightful chaos and wreaking havoc on the entire town. Now, it's up to Chris, his loving wife Carol (portrayed by the fantastic Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children to race against time, break Pepper's spell, and save Christmas for everyone.

Some critics say Candy Cane Lane is an overstuffed Christmas stocking that's as nutty as chestnut and warm as an open fire. While it may have some clichés, it's still a delightful and enjoyable holiday romp suitable for the whole family. This film offers a fresh and frivolous festive Christmas experience, perfect for those looking to cozy up with a feel-good movie during the holiday season.

The film's charming storyline, combined with Eddie Murphy's comedic genius and the enchanting holiday magic, makes it a delightful addition to your Christmas movie marathon. As you watch Chris and his family take on the challenge of battling deviously magical characters, you'll be transported into a world filled with laughter, love, and the true spirit of Christmas. All in all, with its heartwarming message and joyful energy, Candy Cane Lane is the kind of movie that will leave you with a smile on your face and a heart full of holiday cheer.

Best. Christmas. Ever! (2023)

Best. Christmas. Ever! may not be your typical blockbuster movie, but it's a cozy little film that you can enjoy during the holiday season. Although the plot may seem predictable, the movie actually touches on some deep and meaningful themes like forgiveness, happiness, and the bittersweet emotions that often come with the end of the year.

The film's short length might make you wonder if it's even a movie at all, but it's packed with heartwarming moments and festive cheer that capture the essence of Christmas. Even though it feels more like a TV special, it still manages to embrace the spirit of love, acceptance, and gratitude — all classic holiday themes that never go out of style.

It's worth noting that if you're a fan of Brandy Norwood, you might not get the hard-hitting performance you were hoping for, but she does deliver a delightful duet of “Let It Snow” and some other pleasant carols.

Exmas (2023)

If you're in the mood for a heartwarming and hilarious holiday movie, look no further than Exmas! When a guy named Graham plans to surprise his family for Christmas, he gets the shock of his life when he finds his ex-fiancée, Ali, already there as an unexpected guest. The two of them then engage in a comedic battle to win over the family and secure a spot for themselves on Christmas Day.

The movie features Leighton Meester and Stephen Amell, who bring their A-game as inventive comic actors, keeping you rooting for them right from the start. It's a delightful combination of romance and humor that will definitely give you all those warm, fuzzy holiday feels.

But what truly sets Exmas apart is its ability to capture the essence of a big family holiday, complete with all the chaos, love, and laughter that comes with it. Director Jonah Feingold does an excellent job of portraying endearing and charming romantic stories, while also infusing the film with fresh humor and heartfelt traditions. And of course, the magical chemistry between Amell and Meester is an absolute treat to watch!

Although some critics felt that the film's central conflict could have been articulated better with a bit more patience in the set-up, Exmas still stands out as one of the most unexpected and highly amusing holiday comedies of the year.

Merry Little Batman (2023)

This Christmas adventure follows Damian Wayne, who's determined to be a hero just like his dad, the iconic Batman. When Batman is out fighting the bad guys on Christmas Eve, Damian discovers a dastardly plan to ruin Christmas and jumps into action to save the day.

This movie is all about bringing holiday cheer while delivering some action-packed fun. Geared towards younger audiences, it's full of energy and captivating visuals that pay homage to the classic satirical art style of Ronald Searle. The director, Mike Roth, keeps things light and accessible, making it a great watch for the whole family without getting bogged down in decades of Batman history.

While Damian steals the spotlight, fans hoping for more of Batman might feel a bit let down. But the movie's fast-paced, exciting storyline and vibrant animation more than make up for it.

In a nutshell, Merry Little Batman has the potential to become a new holiday favorite for both kids and adults. It's an exhilarating, festive treat that'll have you eagerly anticipating more holiday adventures with Little Batman.
