GetOutPass Recommends: Spring Music to Jam to

April 21, 2022

Welcome!

This is the GetOutPass blog. It's where we explore topics we're interested in. We hope you'll find them useful too! Feel free to stay and explore.

Goodness, there's something magical about springtime. The sun comes out more, the days are longer, it's much easier to go out and enjoy the outside world, and everyone's mood seems to be much better.

What do you like to rock out to when the sun shines and the weather is warmer? We're going to compile a list from some GetOutPass employees that know a thing or to about music.

Max: Songs about the sun

Max warms up the suggestions by going with the happy-go-lucky array of songs that have to do with that bright yellow thing in the sky we depend on for life. We really do take the sun for granted, don't we?

"Here Comes the Sun" - The Beatles

This may be one of the more classic songs about the sun that we know about. The Beatles have a wide range of music and tones, and their song here takes a step back and lets the wonderful George Harrison serenade us about everything being ok; as long as the sun is shining, we have nothing to worry about.

"Here Comes the Sun" sure is a great song.

Dallin: Jazz

I'm going to broaden the list a little bit by adding an entire genre: jazz. Jazz seems to be hit or miss with most listeners. Perhaps playing the bass in my high school jazz group has influenced the way I feel about it, but jazz is perfect for spring. It's lively, it bounces around and makes you feel like getting our of your chair and going nuts on the dance floor.

"Sing, Sing, Sing"

"Sing, Sing, Sing" may be one of the more popular jazz songs out there. If you hear jazz in a movie and people are doing some sick swing dance moves on the floor, I'm betting $5 that they're jamming out to this song. Most versions are 7+ minutes long, so be grateful that I only posted one under 3 minutes!

"The Chicken"

If swing jazz isn't your thing, fret not, for funk was made for those that need to feel a little more wacky bass and notes flying around everywhere. Funk just makes you feel happy.

Mitch: Bruce Springsteen

Mitch takes a stab at the pun world by going with Bruce SPRINGsteen. Honestly pretty funny, I didn't even realize it until I was typing it. Wild guy, Mitch.

"Glory Days" - Bruce Springsteen

Shredded.

Nick: Caamp, Jackson Browne

Nick aims to introduce us to two excellent choices for music this April. I can't say I've heard of this "Camp" group, but after listening to a couple of their tunes, they're not bad at all! Great call, Nick.

"By and By" - Caamp

Along with Caamp, Nick suggests popping in some good ol' Jackson Browne this spring. I'm a big fan of Jackson Browne. Dude is very talented and had a big hand in helping the Eagles out a time or two as well in their own musical journey.

"Take It Easy" - Jackson Browne

If I know anything about music, I'd like to claim that Jackson Browne is the one who wrote this song, and the Eagles were the ones to popularize it. In fact, I believe Browne wrote the first half and got stuck until he crossed paths with the Eagles. They helped him finish it, and it looks like both have their own versions! Super cool.

Collin: Electric Light Orchestra

That hair freaking rocks.

"Mr. Blue Sky" - Electric Light Orchestra

What an excellent song to end our list. ELO has a knack for creating awesome songs that make you feel happy. "Mr. Blue Sky" has become quite popular, making its latest appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy series. Take a listen and tell me you don't feel good. I dare you.
