Goals To Start Before the End of the Year

November 25, 2022

Welcome!

This is the GetOutPass blog. It's where we explore topics we're interested in. We hope you'll find them useful too! Feel free to stay and explore.

Each of us had our own goals when 2022 began. We don't know about you, but we're sure that some of those goals have already been accomplished. However, there's still time to accomplish more! Here are some goals that you can start accomplishing to help you make the most out of the remaining month of the year.

1. Traveling to Your Dream Destination

If there's a place you've always wanted to visit, make this the year you finally do it. Whether it's across the country or across the world, now is the time to turn your travel dreams into reality.

If you can't travel right now, that's okay. Start planning your trip and research flights, hotels, and things to do. That way, when the time is right, you'll be ready to go.

Making your travel dreams come true is an amazing way to end the year on a high note. However, strive to practice safety protocol as some places are still in the midst of a pandemic. Wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and washing your hands regularly are some of the best ways to protect yourself and others while traveling.

No matter what your travel plans are, make sure you take the time to enjoy your dream destination. After all, you've waited long enough to experience it!

2. Getting in Shape

The end of the year is the perfect time to start working on your fitness goals. If you haven't been to the gym in a while, or if you've been meaning to start working out at home, now is the time to do it. It's never too late to get healthy!

There are plenty of easy ways to get started on your fitness journey. If you're not sure where to begin, try some of these simple tips:

  • Start by walking for 30 minutes each day - Walking is a great way to get your heart rate up and improve your overall cardiovascular health.
  • Try a home workout video or app - There are tons of great workout videos and apps available for free or for a small fee. You can even find some workouts that only require bodyweight exercises, so you don't need any equipment.
  • Join a gym or fitness class - If you're looking for more structure and accountability, joining a gym or taking a fitness class can be a great option. You can find gyms and classes for all budgets and fitness levels.
  • Set realistic goals - It's important to set goals that are achievable and realistic. Trying to lose 50 pounds in one month is probably not realistic or healthy. But, setting a goal to lose 10 pounds in two months is much more achievable.

No matter how you choose to get started, the important thing is that you just do it! Getting in shape is a great way to improve your overall health and well-being.

3. Learning  a New Skill

The end of the year is the perfect time to start learning a new skill! Whether you've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar or you've been wanting to learn a new language, now is the time to get started.

There are plenty of resources available online and in libraries to help you get started on your learning journey. In today's digital world, you can even learn a new skill from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a little motivation and some dedication, and you'll be surprised at how quickly you can learn something new.

4. Completing a Project You've Been Putting Off

You know what I'm talking about. We all have that ONE project that we've been meaning to get to, but for one reason or another, we keep putting it off. Maybe it's finally painting the spare bedroom or organizing your home office. Whatever it is, now is the time to complete that project!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

  • Make a list of everything you need to do in order to complete the project. This will help you stay organized and on track.
  • Set a deadline for yourself. Having a timeline will help you stay motivated and focused.
  • Break the project down into smaller tasks. This will make it feel less daunting and more manageable.
  • Enlist the help of friends or family members. They can help you stay on track and offer support.
  • Most importantly, don't procrastinate! The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get started.

Grab your supplies and get to work! For sure, you'll be so glad once you've finally completed that project.

5. Reconnecting With an Old Friend

It's always great to reconnect with an old friend. If you haven't seen someone in a while, why not reach out and see if they're free for coffee or lunch? It's likely they'll be happy to hear from you!

Starting -- or in this case, re-starting -- a friendship is always a great goal to have. It's a great way to catch up on old times and make new memories. And what could be better than that? You'll be doing yourself a favor by reconnecting with an old friend. So go ahead and shoot them a message!

6. Giving Back to the Community

There are plenty of ways to give back. And the best part is, it'll make you feel good too!

So what are some easy ways to give back? Here are a few ideas:

  • Volunteer your time. There are tons of organizations that could use an extra pair of hands this time of year. From serving meals at a soup kitchen to wrapping gifts at a local charity, there are plenty of ways to lend a helping hand.
  • Donate money. If you're able, consider making a financial donation to a worthy cause. Every little bit helps!
  • Help out a neighbor. From shoveling snow to checking in on an elderly neighbor, there are lots of ways to lend a hand right in your own community.

Giving back is easy and it feels great too! So this holiday season, make an effort to help out those in need and give back to your community.

7. Making Time for Yourself

It's important to remember to take care of yourself, both physically and mentally. If you've been meaning to read that book, take a yoga class, or just take some time for yourself, now is the time to do it! You deserve it!

Making time for yourself can be difficult, especially if you have a lot of other obligations. But it's important to prioritize your own well-being in order to be your best self. Here are some easy ways to make time for yourself:

  • Set aside sometime each day, even if it's just 10-15 minutes, to do something that you enjoy. This can be reading, taking a walk, listening to music, or anything else that relaxes and rejuvenates you.
  • Schedule regular appointments with yourself. Whether it's getting a massage, going for a manicure/pedicure, or taking yourself out to lunch once a week, put it in your calendar and treat it like any other important meeting.
  • Get enough sleep! This is crucial for both your physical and mental health. Make sure you're getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
  • Make healthy choices for your body. This includes eating nutritious meals, exercising regularly, and avoiding harmful substances.
  • Take some time to reflect on your goals and what you want to achieve. This can help you focus on what's important and make better use of your time.

Making time for yourself is essential for living a happy and healthy life. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better equipped to handle whatever life throws your way.

We hope you find these goals helpful and that you're able to start or even accomplish them before the end of the year!
