Today, we celebrate International Women's Day. This is an opportunity for us to acknowledge the progress that has been made towards gender equality over the years. However, it is also important to recognize the challenges still facing women around the world.

In this blog post, we aim to inspire and motivate everyone to advance gender equality and stand up against discrimination and prejudice. Together, we can work towards a better future for everyone.

What Does International Women's Day Mean?

Let's push for equality this International Women's Day!

International Women's Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate the economic, political, social, and cultural achievements of women, honor their contributions to society and raise awareness about the issues they still face today. It is a day to celebrate their strength, spirit, and achievements.

International Women’s Day is celebrated every March 8th. It was first observed in the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until the late 1970s that the date was chosen to commemorate the struggle of women for gender equality.

Here at GetOutPass, we hope that International Women's Day will continue to be a celebration of women and their achievements, and a call for all to break the bias and take action for equality.

History of International Women's Day in the U.S.

Participating in civic activities is important to the development of the United States. However, the right to vote was only limited to white men until 1920.

During the 1860s, Susan B. Anthony fought to have to right to vote granted to men and women in the United States. She was a women's rights activist, suffragist, and political reformer.

Hoping that the 14th Amendment will grant suffrage rights to all Americans, she fought for its ratification. However, in 1868, the women's right to suffrage was not included in the 14th amendment. That's why a year later, she founded the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) with Elizabeth Cady Stanton to continue fighting for women's rights.

It was not until 1920 that women were finally granted the right to vote, although this amendment only included white women. Then, with the liberation movement taking place in the 1960s, Voting Rights Act was passed. This allowed all women to vote, making equality more attainable.
