Great weather is here, and with it comes the urge to get outside. For many of us, this means picnics. And while we may not be as skilled at cooking on a grill or boiling water outdoors as we are in our kitchens, there's no reason you can't have a great picnic!

But how can you be confident that your picnic will be a hit? Making sure that everything will go well can be daunting, but don't worry -- we at GetOutPass are here to help! Here are our top tips for having a great picnic this spring:

Plan Ahead

This is especially important if you are trying to stick to a budget. Decide what you are going to bring with you before you go shopping, and try to buy everything in one trip.

It also helps to list everything that you need. This way, you'll be less likely to forget anything that might be important. Being forced to make last-minute decisions can ruin all the fun, and planning ahead will also help you avoid any stressful situations.

Picnic is a great way to have a family get-together!

Choose a Great Location

The best picnics are the ones that are held in beautiful, scenic locations. But don't forget that not every great spot is out in the open -- a shady park can be just as nice on a hot day.

This may seem obvious, but it's important. Find a spot with a great view, plenty of shade, or interesting things to look at. If you are planning a picnic at the beach, make sure everyone has a pair of shoes that are suitable for sand. If you are planning a picnic in the park, make sure everyone is dressed appropriately.

Consider a place that is easy to get to, not just for you but also for everyone. You don’t want the bunch of you to be driving around for hours just to get to where the picnic is.

Plan Your Menu

Great food only means great picnic--don't forget to plan for your menu!

This doesn't have to be anything too complicated, but you should think about what you are going to serve. Will there be a main dish? How about sides or desserts? You don’t have to go all out and have a meal fit for a king. However, you want to make sure you have enough for everyone.

Also, you don't have to cook everything yourself. In fact, it might be a good idea to have a couple of things that are pre-made. This will help to take some of the pressure off you. Just make sure that everything you bring is either something that can be eaten cold or doesn't need to be heated up.

Utensils, Utensils, Utensils

You don't want to end up having everyone scrambling to get a utensil. Make sure you bring enough utensils for everyone, including plates, cups, silverware, and napkins.

This is one of the most important things to consider but often gets overlooked. If you're not sure how many people will actually show up to your picnic, bring a little extra. There's nothing more disheartening than sitting down to a picnic with everyone around you and realizing that there are not enough utensils for everyone.

Bring Games

One of the best things about picnics is that they provide the perfect opportunity for some family bonding and friendly competition. Bring along a few games to keep everyone entertained. Classic games like frisbee, football, and tag are always a hit, but you can also get creative and come up with some new ideas.

Making sure that everyone is having a good time is very important. If there are children with you, make sure that they have something to do while you're busy preparing the food.

BYOB -- But Not Too Much

This one is for the adults! If you are planning on drinking alcohol at your picnic, make sure you bring along enough for everyone. No one wants to be a buzzkill.

Picnic is all about being together and having fun with each other's company, and a little alcohol can make it that much more enjoyable. However, don't make alcohol the center of the get-together. You don't want everyone to get too inebriated and make a mess.

On the other hand, make sure that you are aware of the rules regarding the consumption of alcohol. Every location has its own regulations, so check beforehand to make sure that you are in compliance. You don't want to end up getting in trouble because you were too busy enjoying yourself!

Bring a First-Aid Kit

Accidents can happen, so it's always a good idea to be prepared. Make sure you pack a first-aid kit, just in case. Next time you're at the pharmacy, grab a few bandages and other supplies that will be useful at your next picnic. You can also think about packing a dedicated first-aid kit for the kids. You never know what they might come across on the playground or in the park.

Even though it is just a picnic, accidents can still happen. If you have a first-aid kit, you will be prepared.

Clean Up After Yourself

This one should be obvious, but it's important. Make sure you pack a trash bag and take all your trash with you when you leave!

You should think about the next person that will be using the table and try to make sure that everything is clean and in order before you leave. This is especially important if you're going to be hosting a big family picnic. If you don't clean up after yourself, someone else might get upset.

Remember, be responsible and don't forget to clean up after yourself.

Have Fun!

This is the most important tip of all. The whole point of a picnic is to have some fun, so make sure you relax and enjoy yourself.

Conclusion

Now that you know our top tips for having a great picnic, it's time to get out there and enjoy the spring weather! Head to your favorite spot, pack up a few goodies, and let the good times roll!
