Ways To Decorate Your Home This Month

September 9, 2022

Welcome!

This is the GetOutPass blog. It's where we explore topics we're interested in. We hope you'll find them useful too! Feel free to stay and explore.

It's time to change your home's theme and welcome the fall season. Here are some tips to decorating your home this September:

1. Add Some Cozy Blankets and Throws

This is the perfect time of year to snuggle up with a blanket, so why not make your space even more cozy by adding a few extra blankets and throws? You can find them in a variety of colors and patterns to match your decor, and they'll come in handy when the temperatures start to drop.

2. Change Up Your Wall Decor

Seasonal wall decor is a great way to add a touch of fall to your home without spending a lot of money. Look for items like leaves, pumpkins, and fall-themed prints to hang up around your space. You can also switch out your light fixtures for something a little more festive, like string lights or sconces.

3. Bring Nature Indoors

One of the best things about fall is the beautiful colors of the leaves as they change. Bring some of that beauty indoors by adding some fall foliage to your decor. You can find fake leaves at most craft stores, or you can go for the real thing and head outside to collect some leaves yourself.

4. Decorate with Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a quintessential fall decoration, and they can be used in a variety of ways. You can carve them into jack-o-lanterns, paint them, or simply use them as part of your fall centerpiece.

5. Add Some Warm Colors

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, it's nice to add some warm colors to your home to make it feel more inviting. Consider painting an accent wall or adding some colorful throw pillows to your sofa.

Things To Keep in Mind While Decorating This Month

When you're decorating your home for fall, there are a few things to keep in mind so that your space feels cozy and inviting.

1. Make sure that your color palette is warm and inviting. Think earthy tones like brown, orange, and red. You can also add a pop of color with brighter shades like yellow or purple. This way, your space will feel warm and inviting, but not too dark.

2. Focus on adding texture to your space. This is the time of year to cozy up with blankets, so make sure you have plenty of them around. You can also add pillows, throws, and rugs to make your space more comfortable and inviting.

3. Bring nature indoors. This is the perfect time of year to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors, so don't be afraid to use them in your decor. Leaves, pumpkins, and gourds are all great ways to do this.

4. Make sure your lighting is warm and inviting. This is not the time of year for bright, white light. Instead, focus on adding lamps and other warm-toned light fixtures to your space.

5. Add some personal touches. This is your chance to really make your space feel like home. Add photos, memorabilia, and other personal items to your decor so that it reflects your style and personality.

The Importance of Seasonal Decor

Seasonal decor is important for a few reasons. It helps to create a space that feels inviting and cozy. As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, you want your home to be a place where you can relax and feel comfortable. Seasonal decor can help you achieve this.

Also, seasonal decors are a great way to add your own personal touch to your home. This is your chance to really make your space feel like YOUR space. Use this opportunity to add items that reflect your style and personality.

Seasonal decor is your chance to add interest to your space. By changing up your decor each season, you can keep your space looking fresh and new. This is a great way to avoid the 'stale' feeling that can come from having the same decor in your home year-round.

DIY Decoration Projects This Month

This blog post isn't complete without some decoration ideas! That's why we at GetOutPass have gathered some of our favorite DIY projects to share with you. If you're looking for some inspirations, here are some ideas for you to consider.

DIY Flower Bucket

This project is perfect for adding some personalization to your home. All you need is a flower bucket, some paint and painting supplies, and any pretty flowers you like! Here's how to do it.

1. Start by painting the bottom half of the bucket in any color you want. Let it dry completely before moving on.

2. Paint the top half of the bucket in a coordinating color. Again, let it dry completely.

3. Once the paint is dry, add any embellishments you want. You could add a strip of washi tape around the rim or glue on some buttons or sequins.

4. Fill the bucket with soil and add your flowers. You could also add some rocks or pebbles to help keep the flowers in place.

As you can see, this is a very simple project that doesn't take very long to complete. This would be a great decoration for someone who loves flowers, or as a gift for someone who just moved into a new home.

Pumpkin-Themed Mason Jars

It's never too early for your home to have a holiday feel! Mason jars are so versatile and can be used for all sorts of things, from vases to storage containers. This fall, jump on the pumpkin spice bandwagon and decorate some mason jars to look like pumpkins!

1. Start by painting the outside of the mason jars in orange. You may need to do multiple coats in order to get an opaque color.

2. Once the paint is dry, add some green felt around the neck of the jar to create the pumpkin stem.

3. Finally, add a face to your pumpkin jar! You could use black paint, googly eyes, or even felt to create the eyes and mouth.

These pumpkin-themed mason jars would be perfect as decoration, or you could use them to hold Halloween candy or small trinkets.

Picture Frame Wreath

This project is a little bit more time-consuming, but the result is so worth it! This wreath is made out of old picture frames, and can be customized to match any decor style.

1. Use a hot glue gun to attach the picture frames together, making sure that the frames are facing outwards.

2. Once all of the frames are attached, use more hot glue to attach a ribbon or string to the back. This will be used to hang the wreath.

3. Now you can start decorating the wreath! You could paint the frames or add some embellishments like sequins or buttons. You could also add some fake flowers or greenery to make it more seasonal.

This wreath would look great hung on a door or wall, especially this fall season.

These are just a few of the many projects you could do this month to spruce up your home. Get creative and see what you can come up with!
